Come into our shadows by Lawrence Darmani

By Lawrence Darmarni·
Shadows of the earth plague our battlefield Sending arrows down our inner spines What used to be tranquility, now ruins Scattered about like dry bones in the valley Longing for veins, flesh, and life blood Famished riverbeds stripped of life While millions in vain search for abodes And you wonder why our tears flow? The weight hangs on our necks and minds Splitting our heads for want of valid motives Why our kinsmen take up arms in peace time Silencing the dove that used to sing for us Forgetting in unity lies lasting increase And you say let us not moan for us? Nay, we shall, for the arrows pierce our souls Seeing they embrace eternity without light How then will they be presented faultless Before him who extended to them the peace They rejected, turning their backs on life? So we cannot help but scream without ceasing Wailing before him who dispenses of harmony But in-between our ceaseless sobbing We hear: Come to me, you the heavily laden Even you intercessors: grow your faith Trouble not your hearts, nor be dismayed For where darkness prevails, behold sunshine So let them scoff and have hysterics Taunting, how the mighty have fallen Jeering, into the abyss they fall Yet we arise and shine behind the clouds Come into our shadows, mighty one Then shall there be a brighter tomorrow The dove shall return, leaf in beak True peace to nourish famished factions Come, let us wipe flowing tears Strengthening wobbling arms Looking beyond the dark shadows Let knees be bent and arms be raised While spears become harvesting sickles Arrows rather hunt needed game Muskets go off only in celebration Handshake and peace pipes smoked In advance of the tranquil declaration Like a river that wells up to eternity
