Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Lawrence Darmarni ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit lawrencedarmani.com, create an account, buy books, or interact with our content. By using the website, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We only collect the information we need to run this website, sell books, and respond to you.

  • Account details — when you create a customer account: your name, email address, password (stored in encrypted form, never in plain text), and optionally your phone number.
  • Order details — when you buy something: your name, email address, billing and delivery address, the items you ordered, the amount paid, and a payment reference.
  • Comments — when you comment on a blog post: the name you give, your comment and, if you choose to provide it, your email address.
  • Messages — if you email us, the contents of your message and your contact details.
  • Technical information — like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, for security and to keep the site running.

We never see or store your card or mobile money details. Payments are handled entirely by our payment provider, Paystack (see section 4).

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • process and deliver your orders, including access to e-book downloads;
  • send you order confirmations, receipts, and updates about your purchase;
  • manage your customer account and order history;
  • publish and moderate blog comments;
  • answer your questions and provide customer support;
  • protect the website against fraud, abuse, and security threats;
  • meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

We will only send you marketing emails, such as news about new books, if you have agreed to receive them, and every such email will include a way to unsubscribe.

3. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for the website to work:

  • Shopping cart cookie — remembers the items in your cart for up to 30 days.
  • Login cookie — keeps you signed in to your customer account while you browse.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell your browsing data. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and account features will not work without them.

4. Who we share your information with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run the website, and only as much as they need:

  • Paystack — processes card and mobile money payments. Paystack handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
  • Hosting and storage providers — host the website, its database, and uploaded files.
  • Delivery partners — receive your name, address, and phone number when we ship a physical book to you.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, our customers, or the public from harm or fraud.

5. How long we keep your information

We keep account information for as long as your account is open. We keep order records for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Blog comments stay published until you ask us to remove them or we remove them under our moderation policy. If you close your account, we delete your personal details except where we must keep them by law.

6. How we protect your information

The website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, passwords are stored in encrypted form, and access to customer data is restricted to authorised administrators. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities of any breach as required by law.

7. Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) of Ghana, and similar laws where you live, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it;
  • object to, or withdraw your consent to, our use of your information, including for marketing;
  • complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.

You can update most account details yourself from your profile page. For anything else, email us at support@lawrencedarmani.com and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's privacy

You may browse the website at any age, but you must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to create an account or make a purchase. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Links to other websites

Our website links to other sites, such as social media pages and video platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, so please read their privacy policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we will let account holders know by email.
