LET US GO TO HEAVEN by Lawrence Darmani

By Lawrence Darmarni·

Let us go to Heaven! This invitation comes from the Lord Jesus Christ. He said, “Come to me, all you who are tired and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). His “rest” means peace with God. His “rest” means never-ending satisfaction for our tired soul. Saint Augustine once said, “The heart is restless until it finds its rest in its Creator.” Peace with God: True, the heart that is not at peace with God is restless, tired, and unhappy. Without Christ, the soul is lost because the soul has sinned. The Word of God says, “All have sinned . . .” (Romans 3:23). Every human being is a sinner, and the immediate result of sin is the troubles we are facing on earth. Eventually, the punishment for sin is death, says the Word of God, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). Jesus invites us to go with Him to Heaven in order to save us from sin, Satan, and hell. He invites us to receive eternal life. Nice things: For some people, there are nice things in the world—money, buildings, cars, food, drinks, and a comfortable environment. But many of those who have these things lack peace of mind—if they don’t have Jesus in their life. No matter how rich or comfortable a person may be, he or she soon experiences trouble when disaster strikes. The world is full of troubles—accidents, sickness, pain, dead, and sorrow. Every news bulletin on radio and television comes with some bad news that makes us feel anxious and afraid. War, poverty, and hardship displace people. We move about looking for a better place, only to realise that there is no better place on earth. “Come to me”: Sooner or later, we get tired of our labours as we go about our daily activities. That is why the Lord Jesus is inviting us, saying, “Come to me, all who are tired and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Now, since the world is full of so much trouble, we are wise if we turn our attention to Heaven—the better place! When we leave this world through death, where will our soul go to? Country musician Jim Reeves sang, This world is not my home, I am just passing through. But passing through to where? Let us pass through to Heaven! While the world is full of troubles, Heaven is full of peace and happiness. In Heaven, God Himself will be with us forever. He will wipe away our tears. There will be no more death and mourning. (Revelation 21:1-5). This world is passing away, but Heaven is forever. My Father’s house: The Lord Jesus said, “In my Father's house are many mansions . . . I go there to prepare a place for you . . . I will come back and take you to be with me” (John 14:2-4). To accept the invitation to go to Heaven, talk to Jesus. Follow these simple steps: 1. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for us; 2. Accept that you are a sinner, for we are all sinners; 3. Repent from your sins, being sorry for them; 4. Confess your sins and ask God to forgive you; 5. Accept Jesus as your personal Saviour by inviting him into your heart. When you take these steps, believe that your sins have been forgiven and that Jesus has come to live in your heart. Thank Him for what He has done for you. Now that you have accepted the invitation, you are on your way to Heaven! Join a church where the Word of God is taught, and serve Jesus your Lord till He returns to take us to Heaven. Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for inviting me to Heaven and for preparing a place there for me. Please, help me to live for you while waiting for You to come back for us.
